PreS-K-These sets include wordless galleries that are illustrated with space- and time-related photos or portraits of children expressing uncomplicated emotions; large-type song lyrics and simple rhymes paired to cartoons; and brightly illustrated stories with simple structures. These abbreviated but serviceable titles are equally suitable for sharing with small groups or individual reading (or pre-reading). The sets of children in each volume are assiduously inclusive, and the settings and items in all the pictures are designed to provoke discussion. In Time, for instance, figures are flanked by images of both face and digital clocks. Each entry closes with topic-specific suggestions for teachers or parents.
