An impeccably researched, definitive biography that for the first time captures Ted Kennedy's life, from the author of 4 New York Times bestsellers about the Kennedy family.
In his nearly fifty years in the United States Senate, Edward "Ted" Kennedy has earned admiration for his powerful oratory as well as his powerful ideals. But he has also earned a reputation as an alcoholic and philanderer. Klein seeks to reconcile these contradictions in this comprehensive biography of an American icon and all his flaws.

Klein's biography of the Massachusetts senator praises its subject but still manages to cover him "warts and all," not turning away even from his responsibility for a death. Klein's take is that Kennedy has finally, to a great degree, risen above his many failings and has played a historic role in an important arena, the U.S. Senate. Arthur Morey's engaging, slightly hoarse voice reflects a sympathetic understanding of Klein's text, mirroring its feelings and judgments, including admiration and sadness. He narrates as if he's telling us the story so that his expressiveness and skillful modulations of tone seem entirely natural. His reading may make both the biography and its subject more likable than they would otherwise seem. W.M. (c) AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine
