As the granddaughter of Caesar Augustus, Claudia lived in the palace and witnessed political machinations and intrigue. Then she marries Pontius Pilate and travels with him to Judea, where there is even more unrest. She begins to find peace in the teachings of a young preacher, but, soon, even his presence stirs trouble. VERDICT Taylor's fourth biblical historical (Journey to the Well; Martha; Mary Magdalene) features lush, exotic, ancient settings and in-depth characterization. Readers who enjoy strong women of history will appreciate this work. Recommend it to those who read Francine Rivers.
